The Mini-Mammoth Challenge is like a sniper match and inspired by Mammoth Sniper Challenge in the US, but a much smaller version and with little rucking. So, think of it as a Mini-Mammoth match. It is a Pistol / Rifle Unknown Distance Team match. It will be based on 2 Ranges at 660 yards and 1000 yards,
It’s a one day match with a two-person team shooting 5 stages, that combines precision long-range rifle and pistol marksmanship under time constraints. Competitors engage unknown distance targets, with rifle out to 1000 yards, and pistol 15 yards to 100 yards, often from awkward or challenging positions, rather than a comfortable bench rest. It’s a test of shooting prowess and physical grit. There will be some light rucking between ranges.
Competitors shoot as a 2 man team with Rifle and Pistol. Generally, for each Stage the 1st Team member shoots pistol first and then rifle, while 2nd shooter assists by spotting and ranging targets. Then team members swop roles. There will be 5 mins total to shoot the stage.
You can shoot with Rifle only if you don’t have a Pistol but need a Partner with Rifle only for score. (If you don’t have a pistol but have enough experience with a Pistol to be safe, it’s possible someone can help with a Pistol).
You will have a Match briefing before you shoot without seeing the stage, and you must take notes to make a good stage plan and know how to find the targets and target distance.
There are no wind flags, a limited round count, and no sighters. It will be a great challenge and an opportunity to use your pistol and rifle skills and work as a team to identify the correct targets and distances for your elevation within the time allowed.
Rifle can be any weight, you may use all modern electronics on the firing point, and all modern shooting equipment and aids, including bi-pods, shooting bags and tripods.
