SUMMARY:BTSA Wednesday Night Steel May 27 2026
DESCRIPTION:***Standard start time. 5:30 setup\, 6pm briefing***\nPlease see the listing at btsa.club/events for the stages we are shooting each evening.\nMD: Trysten\nRegistration closes on the Tuesday before the match at 7pm.\n****Please create 1 registration for each gun you will be shooting.***\nEmergency response plans: https://www.btsa.ca/resources/Documents/Policies/BTSA%20Incident%20Action%20Plan.pdf\nMD WILL HANDLE SQUADDING TO ENSURE A BALANCE OF NEW AND EXPERIENCED SHOOTERS. FAMILIES WILL BE SQUADDED TOGETHER WHEREVER POSSIBLE AND WILL LIKELY BE ASSIGNED TABLET DUTY. EXPERIENCED SHOOTERS WILL BE PAIRED WITH ANOTHER EXPERIENCED SHOOTER WHERE POSSIBLE AND WILL TRADE OFF ON TIMER DUTY. NEW\, NON-FAMILY SHOOTERS\, WILL LIKELY HAVE PAINTING DUTY. IF THERE IS AN ESSENTIAL PLACEMENT\, BEYOND FAMILY\, EMAIL STEEL@BTSA.CLUB\nWhat:\nThe Wednesday night steel program is an opportunity for BTSA club members and shooters from the broader community to experience the speed shooting sport of steel challenge. Steel challenge involves shooting 5 steel targets in 8 configurations several times each with the shooter’s cumulative time being their score. Time is added for misses and certain procedural infractions. \nSteel challenge may be shot with either centrefire handguns\, .22lr rimfire handguns\, .22lr rimfire rifles\, or pistol caliber carbines. No magnum calibres or steel core/steel jacketed ammo are permitted.\nWednesday night steel is run as a 4-stage match. Shooters with current USPSA membership will be able to receive a classification\, provided they complete all 4 stages\, when the classification system updates the following Wednesday.\nWhere:\nBTSA range. Bay 1-5. Shooters may drop their gear at the top but please park down the road or in the lot as parking at the top is needed for match staff. The main road gate and BTSA gates are scheduled to be opened at 5:30 pm to allow entry for non-members but may be open earlier if members are already up to at the facility. \nWhen:\nEvery: Wednesday from April 22 – September 16\, 2026\nSetup typically begins at 5:30pm and safety briefing at 6 pm unless otherwise stated at the top of the match description. We are typically done in about 2.5 hours. All competitors are expected to be present for setup and to remain for tear down. If you will be running late\, please send the MD an email. Start times may move a little throughout the season to accommodate sunset times. Make sure to check the start time for each event.\nCost:\nOnline payments only\nBTSA members- $5 per gun\, max 2 guns\nNon-members- $15 per gun\, max 2 guns\nJuniors (under 18\, member and non-member)- First gun free. Additional gun at full member/non-member price.\nWho to contact with questions:\nPlease email steel@btsa.club\nWhat to bring:\nWork Gloves\nWater\nFood\nSunscreen\nHat\nEye/ear protection (required to participate)\nTimer if you have one\nGun\nChamber flag for pcc/rimfire\n5+ mags: You may participate with as many as you have. Someone on your squad will be able to help you reload as you shoot if you have 3-4 mags. Shooters with 1-2 mags will only be able to shoot their loaded magazines as reloading this much on the course will slow down the evening too much. 10 round magazines are strongly recommended for pcc shooters. Please pre-load your magazines at home when possible.\nAmmo: 100 rounds minimum for 4 stages. Experienced shooters should bring 150-200. Novice shooters should bring 250.\nHolster: belt holster for any Center fire handguns that fully covers the trigger. “concealment/IWB” holsters are not permitted. Rimfire guns are not drawn from the holster. It is best to bring a case/gun bag for these.\nGun belt for holster divisions \nShooter results:\nResults will be posted to PractiScore\, usually the same night. If you need your results to be anonymous\, make sure to contact the match director well in advance.\nFirst time shooters/new to steel challenge:\nYou must contact steel@btsa.club if you will be coming out for your first steel challenge. We need to know what your previous experience level is and if we will have enough experienced staff to accommodate you. When you arrive\, please leave all your gear in your vehicle and identify yourself to an official/person in charge. We will place you on a squad with some experienced shooters to help get you started. Please note\, when a family member is on the line\, they are under the care of the range officer. Please do not distract them from following the RO’s instructions. If the RO is unfamiliar with your particular firearm\, they will ask for input as needed. If you would like coaching or advice while you are shooting\, please let the RO know and they should be happy to oblige.\nA note regarding classifications:\nClassifications are used to help competitors measure their success against shooter shooting with a similar ability and skill set. A D class production shooter and a Grand Master rimfire rifle open shooter can’t be equally compared. In order to earn a classification\, you must be a current USPSA member and complete any 4 stages in a single division. Classifications are specific to each division and do not carry over between Steel Challenge and USPSA. To check your classification\, go to SCSA.org (not USPSA.org).\nRule book:\nThe official steel challenge rule book governs our Wednesday night matches please make sure to give it a read through so that you are familiar with the rules\, commands\, and equipment divisions.\n****AT AN ABSOLUTE MINIMUM\, ALL COMPETITORS SHOULD READ CHAPTERS 1\,5\,6\,8\, AND 10 AS THEY COVER SAFETY\, BASIC RUNNING OF THE MATCH\, AND DQ-ABLE OFFENCES****** \nhttps://scsa.org/rules\nRefunds\nIf you are withdrawing from the match\, please email steel@btsa.club for the most timely refund. Refunds for voluntary withdrawals will be less credit card processing fees and must be received by the registration closing date so we have a chance to attempt to fill the empty slot. If the match needs to be cancelled due to conditions or unexpected events\, a full refund will be issued less any unrecoverable expenses (none are typical for weekend matches and this applies more to provincial/national matches)

SUMMARY:Handgun 2.0 Ladies Only
DESCRIPTION:Thousands of women have learned firearms safe-handling procedures\, while discovering how much fun it is to shoot handguns in our Introduction to Handgun—Women Only sessions. \nNow\, due to high demand\, Buds Gun Shop & Range is offering the next logical step in your firearms education: Women’s Handgun 2.0! \nOur Women’s Handgun 2.0 course is designed to teach you: \n1) a review of firearms safety rules and storage; \n2) to be more comfortable with handling\, operating\, and shooting your handgun; \n3) more about aiming your gun and getting shots to hit where you want; \n4) smoother trigger operation and more trigger time with instructor oversight; \n5) understanding reloading with simple magazine changes (for pistols) or speedloaders (for revolvers); \n6) a defensive mindset–we discuss the defensive mindset\, your attitude and intuition\, and when you are justified in utilizing deadly force. \nAll in a safe and fun environment! \nPLEASE NOTE: DUE TO THE INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION PROVIDED TO EACH STUDENT\, THIS CLASS IS LIMITED TO EIGHT (8) PARTICIPANTS. \nImportant Prerequisites! \n1) This class is for those who have prior handgun experience only. You must have already taken our Introduction to Handgun class\, or have similar experience. If not\, sign up and attend either our Introduction to Handgun or Introduction to Handgun—Women Only session BEFORE taking this class. \n2) You should understand basic controls on YOUR handgun and be familiar with safe operation. \nMaterials required: \n1) You will need to bring your own handgun (UNLOADED) and unloaded magazines or speedloaders. \nWe recommend a semiautomatic pistol chambered in the calibers of either .32 ACP\, .380 ACP\, or 9 mm (larger calibers are fine\, if you can shoot them effectively)\, or a revolver chambered in the calibers of .22 WMR (Win. Mag. Rimfire)\, .32 H&R\, .327 Federal Magnum\, 9mm\, or .38 SPL (larger calibers are ok if you can shoot them effectively).  IMPORTANT: PLEASE DO NOT BRING A GUN WITH WHICH YOU ARE UNFAMILIAR OR HAVE NEVER FIRED! \nIf you do not have your own handgun\, we can provide one for you to use for an additional ten dollars ($10)\, plus the cost of ammunition. \n2) You will need at least two (2) magazines for your pistol or one (1) speedloader for your revolver. \nPlease note!  A magazine loader such as an Uplula loader can greatly help you load your magazines easier and faster!  We strongly recommend getting one of these before the class.  These are available in our retail store for purchase. \n3) You need 50 to 100 rounds of range ammunition for your handgun. \nAmmunition may be purchased from our range desk at competitive prices. \n4) We recommend that you bring your own eye and ear protection–electronic shooting muffs are preferred. However\, if you do not yet own your own muffs\, we can provide a non-electronic model. \nReserve your spot online today\, as this session is limited to only eight participants! \nClass Duration: Two hours on our training range; 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. \nPlan to arrive 15-20 minutes early to sign range waivers. \nLimited spaces for this class–sign up now! All other SIG Sauer models may be used in the division appropriate for their configuration.\nThe goal of IDPA is safety first for our members\, competitors\, staff\, and spectators\, and all others associated with any IDPA event. While we have no direct knowledge of the potential technical defect of the weapon system\, the volume of ranges\, organizations\, and military units declaring a problem has made it too visible to deny. We will re-evaluate this decision in the future if new credible information emerges.\n“IDPA is committed to maintaining a fair\, competitive\, and inclusive environment for all shooters\,” said IDPA President Joyce Wilson. “Banning a particular firearm is the last thing we ever want to do as an organization\, but the safety of our members and potential spectators has to come first.”
